MIAMI TOWER POOL DECK
The Miami Tower is an iconic building located in downtown Miami, FL. The pool deck at the Miami Tower is covered with lush vegetation in specially designed planters. After years of enduring many cycles of weather in the South Florida climate, the planters are in need of some new soil to sustain the foliage that beautifies the pool deck.
On this project, Cueto Engineering was tasked with developing a staging plan and evaluating the existing structure for the added loading of a new lightweight planting medium for extensive vegetative roof systems. We worked closely with the project manager and construction team to establish the use of a unique mini crane lift system and outline the ideal staging areas for the soil before it is distributed to the planters.

“That’s a wonderful question, and one that’s perfect for this back-to-school season. Engineering is all about curiosity, problem-solving, and making the world a safer and better place through design. For students interested in engineering, the first step is to build a strong foundation in math and science. These subjects teach the logic and problem-solving skills that are used every day in engineering.
Equally important is developing creativity and communication skills. Great engineers don’t just calculate, they also imagine new possibilities and explain their ideas clearly to others. Reading, writing, and even art can help strengthen these abilities.
For younger students, I encourage hands-on learning such as building models, experimenting with simple projects, or even exploring how everyday things like bridges, buildings, and rollercoasters are designed. For older students, joining STEM clubs, robotics teams, or seeking internships can provide invaluable real-world experience.
Most of all, stay curious. Ask questions, look closely at how things work, and never stop learning. That natural curiosity is what makes an engineer thrive.”
